I believe that nature restoration is everybody’s responsibility. We can’t keep taking from nature without giving back. As an artist, using music and arts seems a natural way to bring people together, spread the message, and empower creative action. I encourage you all to join us and be the voice of the forest.
— Nicoleta Carpineanu, Founder of Forests Without Frontiers

Forests Without Frontiers (FWF) is a non-profit organisation working to restore nature for future generations with the help of music and arts.

FWF was birthed through music. While recording elders in the forests of Romania for her first album, founder Nicoleta Carpineanu (aka Nico de Transilvania) saw the devastating deforestation of the local mountains and decided to donate sales of the album to the planting of trees in the area. We use this model – that artistic projects can raise awareness about the plight of nature and help fund its restoration – in all that we do.

Our unique approach of blending culture and creativity with conservation is what sets us apart from other tree planting organisations. We take an ecosystem-based approach that supports trees and forests, wildlife and people, music and art – all at once.

In partnership with local organisations and communities, we work in forests and other landscapes that need our help. These partnerships are critical to what we do, allowing local people to be directly involved in the regeneration of their landscapes, heritage and traditional wisdom. At FWF, we are committed to this holistic approach, meaning every project includes our three driving principles:

Restore - We help regenerate ecosystems

Inspire - We create music and art

Nurture - We celebrate culture and community

In this way, we bring people back to nature – recording traditional musicians outdoors in local forests, creating soundscapes to capture the beauty and tranquillity of endangered landscapes, preserving traditional songs and folklore, engaging elders and youth in creative projects, hosting volunteer events to plant trees and be in nature – all while planting trees and supporting critical landscape restoration.

We are not separate from nature and must care for the whole, for the good of people and planet.

So join our Forest Family – alongside artists, musicians, ambassadors, conservationists and land protectors – to become a Voice of the Forest.
